Indiana Comic Con 2015
Real Talk By: J.Valdez
I only got the chance to attend Indiana Comic Con on Saturday, and I didn’t get to stay too long. I also missed out on getting a picture with Jason Momoa, because the line was way too long and I was really hungry. But I definitely enjoyed my time there, there were many great cosplays, and a good number of interesting panels going on. Almost spent a lot of money in the dealers area, really tempted to buy the Hound’s helmet from Game Of Thrones. Hope you enjoy the picture gallery.
I also wasn’t expecting to interview or record any video, so I left my mic and stabilizer at home. Then I ran into this guy, who created his steampunk character over the course of a few years, and has a moving dragon on his shoulder.
The full gallery will be uploaded here
Ohayocon 2015!
Real Talk By: J.Valdez
This was my second time at Ohayocon. I knew I was in for a great weekend when I got to the lobby with a friend, and he ended up playing guitar for two other con goers that were singing/rapping. We didn’t know who they were, and I don’t think I saw them again during the weekend. This con was a bit different from the last, I made some friends through the facebook group, so I wasn’t just a lone wanderer this time. I met up on occasion with other con goers, friends, shared a few drinks, took a few pictures. Then at some point I decided to be on the other side of the camera. I became Wilfred, and walked through the con to see what it was like. It helped me see what it’s like to be a cosplayer, the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of it. Continue reading “Ohayocon 2015!”

Spring 2013 Box Art Report Card
Real Talk by: StephO
Box art reviews for titles released between April and June of 2013 (Injustice: Gods Among Us, The Last of Us, Deadpool, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Dead Island: Riptide).
Injustice: Gods Among Us- Including Batman AND Superman in the forefront is definitely eye catching! Featuring the Joker, Flash, and other characters helps reinforce that this is a fighting game. However the top half and bottom half meet in the center in a squashed and awkward way- there are too many things to focus on at first glance. Some visual hierarchy would help this cover artwork, but in the end it does get the point across and that’s what’s most important.
The Last of Us- The look on Ellie’s face is what makes this cover artwork great. It would have been nice to see at least a silhouette of a menacing Infected in the background, but I suppose showing ONLY Joel and Ellie on the cover was kind of the point. The simple and understated design complements the game title.
Deadpool- There is not anything particularly wrong with this cover artwork, but with so many awesome trailers and a fun, creative website you would think the Deadpool cover would be a little more exciting. “This is what awesome looks like” is a nice touch though.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon- The amount of neon-cyborg-craziness crammed into this cover artwork is awesome. Almost every style choice- from layout to color palette to typeface -contributes to the retro 80’s fee. I want to see more laser-eyed blood dragons, but I suppose if the cover artwork leaves me wanting to see more then its doing its job right!
Dead Island: Riptide- A gory yet painterly zombie head front and center with only the game title- made to look like it was stamped in blood -centered above. Wonderful! This game artwork is the winner of the Spring 2013 Box Art Report Card.
Indie Shout Out: Guacamelee!- We are always excited to see fresh, vibrant game artwork so a shout out to Guacamelee! If you would like to see more than just the cover artwork for this 2D platformer, it is available for downloaded on PS3 or PS Vita.

Game of The Month: The Last of us
KJ: Mo Chocolate Reviewed The Last of us giving it a perfect score. This game pushes the envelope in storytelling. It did include multiplayer which many have enjoyed, but the campaign is what really shines. The interactions between Joel and Ellie are fantastic. She made this game an instant classic for many players, with her unexpected courage shown in the darkest of situations. An absolutely superb cast, and top quality voice acting added to the immersion of the zombie adventure. To put it simple, if you own a PS3, this is a must play. Check out Mo’s review right here to see why.

Man of Steel
KJ: The child of Krypton has come back to theaters. Director Zack Snyder gets the job done. This was a blockbuster that delivered on action, which was sorely missing from Superman Returns. Finally sequences I’ve imagined as a kid, are coming to life. The man of steel is receiving the treatment he deserves. No meteor-ized fake villains, or super babies in this one. Just pure awesomeness. Russell Crowe’s performance of Jor-El was one of our favorite things about this flick. If the action in Justice League is like this, sign us up! By the way, did you catch some of the Easter eggs sprinkled in the movie?
