Asteroids never really left the gaming scene. The concept itself has been duplicated and reloaded a bunch. So this is a series that is beyond classic, and isn’t going anywhere. Well maybe that isn’t necessarily true. Atari is taking the franchise into uncharted territory. Enter “Asteroids: Outpost” an MMO for PC.

“Set in the distant future, Asteroids: Outpost thrusts players into a harsh deep space environment. While on a massive, unforgiving asteroid, players face the challenges of exploring the asteroid, collecting resources, scavenging for ore, crafting equipment, and expanding their territory as they build highly customized bases – all while forming alliances and fighting off other players in challenging multiplayer gameplay. Recurring showers of smaller asteroids represent a source of wealth and a threat as players shoot down these incoming projectiles to defend their claims and harvest their components.” -Atari

Wouldn’t it be cool to guide asteroids at other players? A fun bonus to think about game devs. Maybe a companion app bonus? Well teams will fight for gold, and battle for maximum supremacy. We look forward to giving this modern asteroid game a look.
