Tekken 2 Kazuya’s Revenge Misses The Point

Another Tekken live action movie is coming soon. This serves as a prequel to the first film, which centered around Jin Kazama. In part two, Kane Kosugi plays a young Kazuya. It’s exciting that we will see a movie focused on one of gaming’s best characters. The problem, is that the two clips below really don’t scream Tekken. I thought the first movie was decent. One of the reasons is because of the costumes. The outfits made the original cast resemble their game-counterparts nicely. The design for Yoshimitsu was top-notch. Another aspect that worked with T1, the filmmakers recruited legitimate martial artists to fill many of the roles. Tekken 2 could still have some great fight scenes regardless of its bland appearance. Kane is pretty skilled. Check out his work in ‘Ninja II: Shadow of A Tear’. Still, without the look and feel of the games, could we call this movie something else? What is the point? Maybe it’s because the bar had been raised from other projects like ‘Mortal Kombat Legacy’ and ‘Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist’. What ever the reason may be, We’re just wondering if this flick has a fighting chance. Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge is coming to home video August 12, 2014.

What are your Tekken 2 Thoughts ?
