Lost Odyssey’s familiar turn-based combat system was an homage for the fans of early Final Fantasy games, but many saw it as dull or outdated. However, an open map and the ability to use ocean-going ships later in the game created a dynamic atmosphere that took the wonders of previous titles and added something new to be enjoyed. An epic story sets the entire game in motion and keeps the player interested with unique character dynamics and beautifully rendered “memory” scenes that take the player through previous experiences of the character. While many critics disagreed on what aspects of the game they liked or didn’t like, the Play Legit crew decided this is one for the books. Regardless any minute flaws in the title, overall it is a well put together game with a deeply moving story.
