Spell Sword iOS Quick Review

Goatees are cool.

Spell sword is a retro hack and slash game for the iOS. It is a survival game with over 50 missions to slice up baddies in. Your goal is given to you at the beginning of each mission, this ranges from you having to survive a certain number of waves against monsters, collecting spell cards with in the time limit, or collecting rupees. The levels can be unlocked as you progress and can be revisited to improve your time, or score, similar to Angry Birds.

The game has some light humor.

There is an Endless mode where as the name implies, there is an endless onslaught of enemies
and you must survive as long as you can by using the environment and spell cards to vanquish them with ease. with every few levels you unlock the environment changes slightly, and you can use it to your advantage. you can also buy items or upgrade spell cards in between missions, to make them stronger and last longer.

The animations are fluid and smooth as you run around and swing your sword, don’t really think I’ve seen such smooth animations in any other retro looking games. I enjoyed this game, with its retro style and rpg elements. Although I expected it to be a side-scroller given the way it looked and felt but, it was still fun. I give this 3 1/2 out of 5.
