3 Visual Trends in Gaming That Must Continue

Real Talk By: KJ

These newer systems have brought us experiences that simply could not have been done on older platforms. The Polygon count is too high, and the hardware is too real. Safe to say the folks at Play Legit love gaming in its current status. These are the visual touches, that help make the experience certified on your home console.

3.Seamless Transitions Between Cut-Scene and Gameplay

If its one thing we love about current-gen games, it’s the style blockbuster titles bring. God of War 3 looks amazing throughout, and its of course nice on the eyes. Speaking of your eyes, try using a pair to notice the transition between cut-scene and gameplay. While the effect might seem minor to some, games are supposed to fully immerse the player. Other than 3D gaming, What better way is there to suck the person right in? Even Dynasty Warriors has jumped in on the action. The seventh game uses it very nicely. My one statement is this, if you do it developers, it better be an almost unnoticeable transition. Otherwise it comes off looking foolish.

2.Motion Blur

Featured in several AAA titles and duds too, motion blur can make a mediocre game look presentable while taking a title that looks phenomenal (Crysis 2) and help bring it closer to reality. It’s a visual feature that just couldn’t have been done on the older systems. Every single genre of games can use this tech to improve on the visuals. Sports, Rpg’s, Fighting games, Fishing games, it really doesn’t matter. Personally that’s what stands out to me the most with this tech.

1.Modern Facial technology  (MotionScan)

After playing LA Noire, then going back to play older titles, watching the characters speak really looked off. Something I certainly wouldn’t have given A second thought about before, but Rockstar has really taken acting in gaming to a whole new level. When somebody’s pissed off, scared, or happy, there’s no doubt about it any more. Usually critics complain developers borrow too many ideas from other companies. If you ask us, this tech needs to be in everything. NBA 2k12, when a player gets fouled, I want to see the anger in his face. Not only because it would make me laugh, but it would add more realism. These visual trends must continue. All three of these achievements in gaming are welcomed, but its scary wondering where we will go next.

  1. i liked Halo 3’s graphic and it had motion blur which i liked. I dunno why many are disappointed by the graphics.

seamless transition from cutscene to gameplay is a plus and should be used more in games.

But games need to use more Bokeh effects especially when you zoom and reload your gun.

  2. I thought the motion blur in Tekken 6 really made things poppin. They have an option to turn it off and when it’s not there, it’s definitely noticeable.
