Real Talk By: KJ
If you own a PS3 version of Mortal Kombat, your most definitely in V.I.P. status. If you own a Xbox, well not so much. As im sure you know by now, the Sony boys get an exclusive character. You might have heard of him. The God of War: Kratos. The Xbox character is. Oh wait there is none. Bandit wrote an article from a few weeks back. In the article he made educated attempts at who the Xbox character might be. During this whole time of waiting for the new Kombat, we hear not a single word from Netherrealm studios concerning the xbox side of things.
It’s real convenient that we hear nothing from them until the day of its arrival. It’s as if they wanted to lock in as many pre-orders as possible before they confirmed the news that everyone dreaded. There would be no Xbox exclusive character. Granted, I own MK on PS3, but it’s just not fair to deny millions of the full power. This was MK director Ed Boon’s quote:
“Unfortunately, the circumstances didn’t allow us to make a 360 exclusive, I’m not allowed to talk too much about it, but I can tell you we certainly wanted to do an exclusive for 360, but that’s all I can say. It was not a decision we made where we said, oh, let’s not do one for the 360.”
Kratos plays incredibly on the PS3. It was a true hookup for fans of GOW. I’m just looking out for everyone. I want to go back to those days where console owners could brag about their exclusive character being better, versus not having one at all. Think soulcalibur 2. I felt Link was a monster, but somebody else might have thought Spawn was the man. This is my point let the people decide that way. If your charging full price for both versions, then include the frills of both. stereoscopic 3D, and the special characters. They really should have let Xbox people know right away that they wouldn’t be getting a character. But I guess it’s all about the money as usual. We all work hard to get these games, so everybody has earned the full features. Outside of this sketchy business move, Mortal Kombat is a superb game, it just sucks that the soulcalibur feeling won’t strike twice.
