Real Talk By: Vex
Why? Why is a valid question to ask when spending 60 dollars. Why did I buy this crap? Why is this game so short? Why was this even released? Why is this game getting good reviews? Why am I not a strip club? These questions are often asked by people such as myself who work hard for their money and expect to get it’s worth, but sometimes don’t. Now do these questions apply to my following review? Let’s see.
For starters, the first FU was an amazing display of tech and very much fun minus some small glitches. So one would expect the sequel to improve on the formula, right? wrong.
The basic gameplay is still intact with the addition of a grapple move, Jedi mind trick, and a force meter which you can fill to access force fury. None of which manage to make the game feel fresh or new. Aside from feeling like a bad ass one moment the game has moments were you feel helpless. Sometimes you get swarmed by enemies only to have cheap snipers in the distance picking you off. Mind you, the enemy A.I. is dumb as bricks but the snipers are lethal. The enemies are dull as well, not to mention they’ve been given some of the corniest dialog I’ve ever heard in gaming.
The concept is the same as the first game, traverse through levels that are super shiny, kill enemies and find Holocrons. The first couple of levels varied in look, but after that they just looked cut and paste, as if development money was running low. That could probably explain why there was only one decent boss fight, and no it was not the last boss either. It’s sad but this game made Darth Vader seem as if you were fighting Chad Vader. It was boring and very repetitive to say the least, not to mention the story.
The story just wasn’t there this time around. Literally, even if you beat both endings your left with more questions than answers. Sad to say but all the questions at the beginning of the article apply to this game. I was really hyped to play considering I loved the first game, and got all the trophies for it. I can’t believe that not only was the story bland, but the gameplay as well. Now don’t get me wrong, graphically you may look at the game and say impossible. Unfortunately no, it is possible to make a turd shiny. So in turn I give this game “The turd of the year award” and 2 out of five mf’s.
